Los Angeles mom plans blood transfusion from her son for anti-aging, sparking debates over safety and effectiveness.
A 47-year-old mom in Los Angeles, Marcela Iglesias, has revealed her plan to undergo a blood transfusion from her 23-year-old son, Rodrigo, as part of her anti-aging routine. Iglesias, who describes herself as a “human Barbie,” believes the procedure will help her maintain a youthful appearance. She shared that her son was happy to donate his blood for the treatment, and he even expressed interest in doing the same for his grandmother.
“Blood transfusion is the new era of maintaining young cells in your system, especially when it comes from your son or daughter,” Iglesias told the New York Post. She became interested in the idea after undergoing stem cell therapy.
How the Treatment Works
According to Iglesias, blood transfusions introduce fresh red blood cells that carry oxygen throughout the body. Plasma, which is part of the blood, contains proteins and clotting factors that aid in healing and overall health. However, clinical experts have warned that there is limited evidence supporting claims that transfusions from younger donors can reverse aging.
Health Risks
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning in 2019 against plasma infusions from young donors. The agency stated that the procedure poses significant health risks and has no proven clinical benefits for conditions such as aging, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, or heart issues. They highlighted that plasma products could carry risks regardless of the donor's age.
Her Anti-Aging Lifestyle
Iglesias has spent over USD 99,000 on various cosmetic procedures and follows a strict wellness routine. She exercises for an hour daily, ensures eight hours of sleep, avoids sugary drinks, alcohol, and meat, and maintains a pescatarian diet. Additionally, she spends over USD 1,000 each month on vitamins, injections, and IV treatments to support her anti-aging goals.
Despite the FDA's concerns, Iglesias is actively seeking a doctor in Los Angeles to oversee the blood transfusion procedure.
