Neha Saraf plays Riteish Deshmukh's on-screen wife in the medical thriller series Pill. Created by Raj Kumar Gupta, the web series is streaming on JioCinema.
Headlined by Riteish Deshmukh in his OTT debut, the web series Pill began streaming on JioCinema from July 12. The show is based on the corruption in the Indian pharmaceutical industry and has received positive reviews from audiences and critics, who have showered enormous praise on the performances of its actors. Among its leading cast is Neha Saraf, who plays Riteish's on-screen wife in the medical thriller. In a freewheeling conversation with DNA, Neha talked about Pill in detail.
Neha, who has impressed the audiences earlier in films such as Kathal, Dream Girl, and Luka Chuppi, bagged Pill when the casting director Shruti Mahajan contacted her. She tells us, "The casting director Shruti Mahajan called me for an audition. When I got the script for a couple of scenes for the audition, I found it really interesting and had decided that I will definitely do this character if I get the opportunity, though I had no idea at that point about the project."
Riteish Deshmukh and Neha Saraf's banter, which is as typical as the one between a husband and a wife in any middle class Indian family, is one of the highlights of the show and adds the much needed humour in the serious drama mainly centred around adulterated drugs and fake clinical trials. When asked about her experience of working with the Dhamaal actor in the show, the actress shares, "He is really humble and a true gentleman. Whenever he is on the sets, he won't sit until a woman is standing. While filming the show, I saw another side of him, which is different from his funny and humorous side, which we normally see on social media. It was really smooth and fun working with him."
Pill also marks the OTT debut of director Raj Kumar Gupta, who has previously helmed critically acclaimed thrillers such as Aamir, No One Killed Jessica, and Raid. Neha says she always wanted to work with the National Award-winning filmmaker. "Sir (Raj Kumar Gupta) works very silently and lets the actor do his job. He observes really small details and directs the scenes on the basis of these observations, instead of saying much. That's why, there's always a sense of calm and peace on the set. I would love to work with him again in the future", the actress concluded.
Apart from Riteish and Neha, Pill also stars Pavan Malhotra, Anshul Chauhan, Akshat Chauhan, Kunj Anand, Baharul Islam, and Nikhil Khurana in the leading roles.
