Complaint filed against Virat Kohli after stampede incident at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium

A complaint has been filed against cricketer Virat Kohli following the stampede incident at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, which claimed 11 lives and left more than 60 injured on June 4. The complaint was filed by social activist HM Venkatesh who held the cricketer responsible for the stampede incident during the celebrations of RCB's first-ever IPL victory at Chinnaswamy Stadium, reports news agency ANI. 

However, no FIR has been registered on his complaint yet, the report said. 

Chinnaswamy stampede 

As the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squad gathered at Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate the IPL victory, fans thronged the venue which resulted in chaos outside the stadium. As a result, a deadly stampede erupted there, leading to the death of 11 people including women and children. 

The RCB later condemned the incident, expressive grief over the deaths. Virat Kohli's team also announced a financial support of Rs 11 lakhs to each of the families of the deceased. 

In addition, Karnataka Police filed an FIR against the Karnataka Cricket Board Administrative Committee, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), among others, in the Bengaluru stampede incident. In response, KSCA has filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking the quashing of FIRs filed against it.

Eleven people died and more than 30 were injured in the stampede as a huge crowd of nearly 3 lakh people had gathered to witness the victory celebration of Royal Challengers Bengaluru for winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday.
