Sources close to the production revealed that total earnings for 15 weeks came roughly to Rs 250 crore after the fee hike.
There was a time when only Bollywood stars took home massive paycheques. In the era of reality television shows and daily soaps, TV actors are equally earning staggering amounts.
Touching Rs 100 crore at the box office was once considered a benchmark for a successful film. But with rising inflation and increasing production budgets, surprisingly, even TV actors are easily earning such figures.
If you think the highest-paid television personality is among Kapil Sharma, Rupali Ganguly or Amitabh Bachchan, then you might be in for a surprise.
Highest-paid TV stars in India in 2025
The highest-paying TV personality in India is none other than Bollywood megastar Salman Khan. According to HT, he earned a whopping Rs 60 crore per month for hosting Bigg Boss 18 in 2024. Sources close to the production revealed that total earnings for 15 weeks came roughly to Rs 250 crore after the fee hike.
Salman Khan joined Bigg Boss as a host in 2010 with Season 4. Due to the high TRPs and his immense popularity, Salman Khan continued in subsequent seasons. The first season of the reality show was hosted by Arshad Warsi, followed by Shilpa Shetty in the second season and Amitabh Bachchan in the third.
With Bigg Boss 19 and Bigg Boss OTT 4 coming up, there is a buzz that Salman may raise his fees even further for the 19th season.
Interestingly, Salman Khan's journey has been full of ups and downs. He once revealed that his first-ever income was Rs 75, earned for dancing in the background at a show in the Taj Hotel.
The actor was last seen in Sikandar, which failed to impress at the box office, earning only Rs 176 crore worldwide.
Other top TV earners
Kapil Sharma reportedly earned around Rs 60 crore for The Great Indian Kapil Show season 1.
Amitabh Bachchan charged Rs 4 to Rs 5 crore per episode for the last season of Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Rupali Ganguly, lead actor of Anupamaa, earns up to Rs 3 lakh per episode, making her the highest-paid actress in Indian TV.
Jannat Zubair, a social media sensation, earns approximately Rs 18 lakh per episode for Khatron Ke Khiladi and Rs 2 lakh per episode on Laughter Challenge.
