Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli has been in the news due to health concerns for the last few months. Kambli spent nearly two weeks at Akruti Hospital in Thane, getting treatment for clots in his brain. Kambli and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar had shared the stage many times in the past.
Recently, in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar newspaper, Vinod Kambli revealed Sachin and his game was different. Kambli also recounted the first-ball six he had hit on his Ranji Trophy debut. He added that he always wanted to hit a shot, but Sachin used to defence on the first ball. "Mai first ball khela aur first ball six tha, wo Sachin nahi kar sakta that. Wo defence karta tha."
The duo has been friends since childhood. They forged a world-record 664-run partnership in a school match in 1988 and went on to represent India together. However, their relationship hit a rough patch in 2009. Back then, Kambli publicly suggested that Tendulkar could have done more to help him during his struggles. However, Kambli recently stated that Tendulkar has stood by him. When Kambli suffered two heart attacks in 2013, it was Tendulkar who took care of the expenses.
