MS Dhoni seen using mobile phone during practice session ahead of IPL 2025, rare video of CSK legend goes viral

MS Dhoni, the former Indian captain, is preparing for the IPL 2025 season with the Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni, who was retained by CSK for INR 4 crore in the mega auction, will once again demonstrate his skills as an uncapped player.

This will be Dhoni's second season as a player, following his decision to step down as captain before the previous season. Dhoni, who has scored over 5000 runs in the coveted franchise cricket league, has been working hard to prepare for the forthcoming season. Recently, a video emerged online showing him training in an indoor facility, where he was seen using a mobile phone between practice sessions, capturing the attention of fans all around the world.

Dhoni, the acclaimed former captain of the Indian team that won the 2011 ODI World Cup, is noted for his reserved manner. His close friends and family report that he does not use a phone, making it impossible to contact him when he is not playing cricket.

Last season, Dhoni had a limited role as a hitter, facing only a few balls during the matches. Nonetheless, he managed to show flashes of his incredible hitting talent, delighting crowds in several settings. Last season, the 43-year-old scored 161 runs in 14 matches, helping the side led by Ruturaj Gaikwad finish fifth in the IPL 2024 points table with seven wins and seven losses.

Dhoni, who has played in all 17 IPL seasons, was rumored to retire after the 2024 season. However, he chose to continue playing and was retained by the Chennai Super Kings.

Along with Dhoni, CSK retained players like Ruturaj Gaikwad (Rs 18 crore), Ravindra Jadeja (Rs 18 crore), Matheesha Pathirana (Rs 13 crore), and Shivam Dube (Rs 12 crore).

During the IPL 2025 mega auction, the five-time IPL champions signed prominent players such as Ravichandran Ashwin, Sam Curran, Rahul Tripathi, Khaleel Ahmed, Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmed, Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, and Nathan Ellis.
