IND vs AUS 5th Test Day 1 highlights: Jasprit Bumrah gets Usman Khawaja in final over, Australia 9/1 at stumps

Jasprit Bumrah claimed the wicket of Usman Khawaja on the final delivery of the day leaving Australia at 9/1 at Stumps on Day 1 in Sydney on Friday. The hosts are trailing by 176 runs in response to India's total of 185.

Rishabh Pant endured multiple blows during the second session and managed to survive until Tea but his innings was cut short by Scott Boland when he was on 40 off 98 balls. This ended a 48-run partnership between Pant and Jadeja which took 151 balls. Boland then further troubled India by dismissing Nitish Kumar Reddy for a golden duck on the very next ball.

At the end of the second session India were 107/4 in 50 overs with Pant and Jadeja's partnership standing at 35 off 111 balls. Pant faced a series of blows, including hits on the bicep, head, and crotch during the session.

Virat Kohli displayed patience and resilience facing 69 balls and leaving deliveries outside off during the first session of the fifth Test at the SCG. However, he fell victim to Scott Boland early in the second session edging a delivery to third slip. This strategy has proven effective against Kohli throughout the series.

Kohli and Shubman Gill appeared to be settling in to bat out the first session but Kohli was dismissed on the last ball before Lunch. Gill, on the other hand seemed distracted by his own tactics as he charged down the track to Nathan Lyon on the last ball of the session resulting in an edge to slips.

The partnership between KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top of the order was short-lived, with Rahul falling to Mitchell Starc in the fifth over of the day. Jaiswal was then dismissed by Scott Boland shortly after almost claiming the wicket of Virat Kohli on the very next ball.
