Sonu Nigam, during an interview, was asked about his collaboration with AR Rahman in Yuvvraaj. To this, Sonu Nigam told O2 India about the song Shano Shano from Yuvvraaj, "That song is pretty average. It wasn’t such a good song."

Legendary singer Sonu Nigam, known to make controversial statements, has yet again come into the limelight for his remarks on AR Rahman's work in the 2008 film Yuvvraaj starring Salman Khan. Sonu Nigam did not hold back while speaking about the album of Yuvvraaj and describing it as 'bekaar' (useless), adding that he "can’t lie and praise a bad song".
Yuvvraaj, for the unversed, was released in 2008 and was directed by Subhash Ghai. It starred Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in lead roles.
Sonu Nigam, during an interview, was asked about his collaboration with AR Rahman in Yuvvraaj. To this, Sonu Nigam told O2 India about the song Shano Shano from Yuvvraaj, "That song is pretty average. It wasn’t such a good song. Let’s not talk about it. I won’t be able to lie. I won’t be able to praise a bad song." He was then asked about the two other songs that he recorded in the album. To this, Sonu Nigam said, "Voh bhool jaiye aap. Iske saare gaane bekaar the. (Just forget about it. All the songs were bad)."
Yuvvraaj was a musical romantic family drama film that was released in November 2008. It flopped at the box-office.
Subhash Ghai, the film's director, had once revealed that AR Rahman’s Oscar-winning song Jai Ho was originally made for Yuvvraaj but was not ultimately used. "That Jai Ho song was made for Yuvvraaj. We recorded it but after recording, I felt that it wouldn’t work for us in that situation. Rahman gave the song to that (Slumdog Millionaire) film. It is his composition."
