Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal have become the latest targets of trolls. The duo are being trolled and called 'hypocrite' for their latest social media activity. Sonakshi and Zaheer celebrated New Year's Eve in Australia. As the clock midnight on January 1, 2025, Sonakshi and Zaheer welcomed the New Year in a picturesque location. They kissed and shouted, "Happy New Year," and the fireworks dazzled the frame. Sonakshi shared the reel with the caption, "Humara Happy New Year ho gaya!!! However, the netizens were not impressed with Sonakshi and Zaheer's video. This is because an Instagram post resurfaced showing a Diwali message from the Dabangg actor. During Diwali 2024, the 37-year-old actor shared a story with a strong appeal: "This is what the air looks like. I want to ask all those people bursting crackers right now…are you'll stupid or what?"

Sonakshi's Diwali post worked against her, and thus she was called a 'hypocrite' by netizens. However the duo turned the comments off. The post went viral on Reddit, and netizens slammed them. An internet user wrote, "Because she's a hypocrite. It's funny how crackers cause pollution only during Diwali. But on New Year, fireworks release oxygen apparently." Another internet user wrote, "What about the pets? Celebs often say animals are scared of firecrackers and we shouldn't use them during Diwali. Do none of them have pets in Australia?" 

Sonakshi and Zaheer got married on June 23 at her home in a low-key civil marriage ceremony in the presence of family and close friends. On the work front, Sonakshi and Zaheer will soon be seen in the romantic thriller Tu Hai Meri Kiran, which marks the directorial debut of Karan Rawal and is produced by Vishal Rana under his banner Echelon Productions. The upcoming film will be the second time Sonakshi and Zaheer will share the screen with each other.
