'Govinda would arrive at 9 pm for 9 am shoot': Shakti Kapoor makes shocking revelation, says 'insecurity aadmi ko..'

Bollywood actor Govinda was a superstar in the 80s and 90s. As per reports, he would shoot for many films in a single day and often worked on about 10 projects at once. Because of this, filmmakers had to wait for hours for him to arrive on set.

Govinda was famous for being late, but his immense popularity made everyone tolerate it. Around five years ago, Shakti Kapoor spoke to Bollywood Bubble about how Govinda had changed over time. He shared that Govinda used to be nearly 12 hours late for his shifts. He stated, "The one thing that has changed about him over the years is his punctuality. Earlier, he would arrive at 9 pm for a 9 am shift. Now, he arrives at 8:30 am for a 9 a.m. shift. Insecurity aadmi ko kaha se kaha pahucha deti hai. Now, he is very professional, and the entire industry knows it. People say now its too late for the actor to make a comeback, I don’t believe it. We have seen people like Amrish Puri starting at 44. It's never too late for an actor or artiste."

His dance moves, acting, and comic timing made him a beloved star among both fans and filmmakers. Once, while he was shooting in Hyderabad, Aamir Khan came to the set just to watch him perform. Shakti Kapoor revealed this.

Shakti Kapoor, speaking to Bollywood Bubble, recalled an incident from the past. He said, "I remember an incident from the old days. Govinda and I were shooting a qawwali scene on stage in Hyderabad. We had a brief encounter. From a distance, I noticed a very small person standing in a corner of the crowd. When I looked closely, I felt like I had seen this person somewhere before. After a while, I realised it was Aamir Khan."

Aamir Khan had secretly come to watch the shoot. Shakti Kapoor further shared, "I asked him, 'Sir, what are you doing here? Someone should bring a chair and tea for you.' He replied, 'I’ve come to see how Govinda syncs so well with the lip movements and how he manages to give such long shots in one go.' Then he added, 'I’m a huge fan of Govinda.'"

He also added, "People say that it's too late for an actor to make a comeback, but I don't believe in that. We’ve seen people like Amrish Puri start their careers at the age of 44. For an actor or an artist, it’s never too late."
