Emergency made a strong debut at the box office on its first day, with positive reviews and favorable word-of-mouth. Kangana Ranaut, known for her outspoken stance against favouritism in the industry, has now triumphed over nepotism with this film.
Its successful opening has outperformed Azaad, which stars Ajay Devgn, Aaman Devgan, and Rasha Thadani. The early box office estimates for Emergency are in, and Kangana Ranaut has reason to smile as her film has done better than her last release, Tejas.
According to Sacnilk, Emergency earned Rs 2.39 crores on its opening Friday. It's important to note that January 17 was Cinema Day, with movie tickets available at lower prices starting from Rs 99. Based on the current trend, Emergency is expected to grow over the weekend, but it will need to maintain its momentum for a strong overall performance.
Emergency was released alongside Azaad, and according to the trade portal, Azaad opened with only Rs 1.60 crores. Despite featuring big names in the cast and the affordable ticket prices, the love drama couldn't capitalise on these positives and had a weaker opening.
Actress and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Kangana Ranaut's much-awaited film 'Emergency' hit theatres today on January 17. While the political drama had a slow opening at the box office as per early estimates, it has received positive feedback from viewers. Directed by the 'Queen' actress herself, the film revolves around the historic Emergency period declared by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from 1975 to 1977.
